Junior Travel Ambassadors

St Helen’s Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTA) are a group of enthusiastic pupils who represent the “pupil voice” in all matters relating to road safety and transport!

The Junior Travel Ambassador scheme is run by Transport for London. The children meet to share ideas and opinions. During each meeting they discuss their progress with current projects. They also help to plan future projects, organise prizes for competitions, and select the winners of existing competitions!

The role of a JTA is to encourage a greener approach to transport and try to support initiatives to promote walking, biking or scooting to school wherever possible.

The Aims of St Helen’s Junior Travel Ambassadors:

To encourage our friends and fellow pupils to walk to school.

To make sure the pupils of our school are safe on the roads of London.

To raise awareness of road safety.

To suggest new ways to make the area around our school safe for our friends.

Our Successes

In the last two years we have been actively involved in promoting a number of initiatives and this has led to us achieving the "Gold STARS Award." This is an award through TfL's accreditation scheme for London schools and nurseries, inspiring young Londoners to travel to school sustainably, actively, responsibly and safely by championing walking, scooting and cycling:
